How it works
-
1
Write something.
It can be about anything. There's no minimum word count or quality checks.
-
2
Share a link by Sunday night.
You can write on Twitter, Substack, a personal blog, or even a throwaway Google doc.
-
3
Read and repeat.
See what other people submitted, and start on your next draft.
Built for almost-writers
-
You already believe in writing.
There are ideas you've been meaning to explore. You might just need a push.
-
You don't need a blog or an audience.
You can write in public, but even a private Google Doc link works.
-
We celebrate the first draft.
Perfect is the enemy of the good. We're all starting fresh each week.
A note from Mark
I started First Draft Club as a way to get myself to write more consistently. I have had an on-and-off relationship with writing for years, and decided to build a community and a structure that helps hold me accountable.
More than 80 people have submitted 400+ posts since the first iteration of the club. If you've been meaning to write more, I encourage you to give it a shot!
